Using the Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover credit card you used to make your purchase.Using your Target RedCard used to make the purchase.Target can also look up your order in a variety of ways, depending on how you paid for your purchase: The amount of credit you receive on your Merchandise Return Card will be based on the item’s lowest selling price. The card is only valid for in-store purchases and cannot be used for online purchases. If you don’t have proof of purchase for an item you’re returning, you’ll receive a Target Merchandise Return Card for your approved and eligible returns. This is where the return barcodes and receipts are listed. Tip: Create a Target Circle account to keep track of purchases you make online, through the Target app or in-store (when paying with a card connected with your Target account or Wallet). But you have to have a valid receipt for the discount. If you’re exchanging an item, Target will apply any discounts, promos or sale prices to the exchange. These Target-owned brand items don’t even need to be in brand-new condition. When it comes to a Target-owned brand item you aren’t happy with, Target will allow exchanges or refunds for up to one whole year! You must have proof of purchase (receipt, digital barcode, packing slip) for a refund. Meanwhile, Target RedCard users have an additional 30 days (120 days total) to return most items they purchase with their RedCard. While there are exceptions to Target’s return policy, customers can return most new or unopened items for up to 90 days for a full refund or merchandise exchange with a receipt. And when it comes to online order returns, the retailer makes the mailing process intuitive and easy-to-follow. The nice folks working in Target’s Guest Services handle in-store returns and the store’s return policy is relatively straightforward, customer-centric and always free. Returning unwanted merchandise at Target might be one of the easiest things you’ll ever do. That’s why knowing Target’s return policy is important so that you can get a full refund or exchange when your purchase doesn’t live up to your expectations.
